Little Genie Box is designed to
The early years are crucial for a child’s development. We see the need to start strong and develop good learning habits which are more important than knowledge and skills. Here at Little Genie Box, we designed a curriculum that enables a child to develop learning habits that will last a long way. |
Our Beliefs
Parents are the best teachers
Parents play the most significant role in a child’s learning. Your involvement matters. Your words mean a lot more. Your love speaks loudest. You are your child’s best role model, facilitator, cheerleader, advocate, mentor, and playmate. Your presence makes them feel special, and gives them confidence to explore, make mistakes, and push their boundaries. Your love makes them feel safe to be themselves, and for learning to take place |
The happy child learns best
Learning is emotional. The best education is one which makes a child happy. Play is serious business. Play, fun, and being involved are true ingredients for authentic learning. Learning should not be constraint to the classroom or sitting at a desk with little participation. Active construction of knowledge is way better than passive instruction. Your child learns most when their emotions are triggered. |
Character triumphs all
Getting your child to score full marks should never be a learning goal. The smartest child is one who can learn independently, solve problems and is curious to learn more. Being able to persevere, work hard, ask questions, and discover answers for themselves are better measures of your child’s ability to learn. Such character dispositions and learning habits will enable them to be truly ready for school and prepare them for years of self-directed learning. Train them to learn on their own. |
Our Pedagogy
Putting our beliefs into practice
Our lessons and learning activities are designed to make learning continuous and meaningful. We developed a 4-step integrated approach to make learning complete. |
1) Explore
Children learn by first exploring. They use their senses to make observations, investigate properties and compare similarities and differences. They see, touch, hear, move, create, destroy, experiment and interact with the objects of learning so that they can move on to the next stage of meaning discovery. |
2) Discover
Children need to construct meaning from their observations. Such knowledge should be constructed on their own instead of being taught explicitly. They learn to reason, predict, and test their understanding on what works and what does not work. Active construction of meaning will enable them to learn independently and acquire knowledge that lasts. |
4) Connect
The final stage of learning is when a child connects his understanding to himself. They understand how things works around them. Making connections to themselves usually evokes emotions and parents play an important role to make the experience positive and memorable. Character can be shaped and values can be taught when they connect with what they learnt. |
